Indian Dispute Resolution Services, Inc. (IDRS) is a national non-profit Indian organization founded in 1990 by a consortium of five national and regional Indian organizations. These included: First Nations Development Institute, Seventh Generation Fund, California Indian Legal Services, Northern Circle Indian Housing Authority, and Round Valley Indian Reservation. Today, IDRS is governed by a Board of Directors composed of prominent Indian leaders from throughout the country.

IDRS is committed to assist American Indian communities build the foundations for effective self-government. IDRS staff helps these communities to: (1) create governing institutions that support informed decision-making and the orderly resolution of conflict; (2) train leaders and staff in skill-sets and values that enable them to work cooperatively and lead decisively; (3) resolve specific conflicts within their organizations, government and community, and (4) engage in productive “Government to Government” consultations and negotiations with federal, state and local agencies and other outside entities.

IDRS has assembled a team of experienced Indian and non-Indian practitioners who are uniquely qualified to bring people together and help build partnerships that solve critical local problems. Today, IDRS offers Indian leaders and organizations an extensive interactive training program and a full complement of technical services.
